Good Deeds Detroit

Working Towards a Brighter Future

Good Deeds Detroit was established in Detroit, Michigan under the leadership of Stephanie Ruckes. Good Deeds Detroit has helped many.

          Our Mission:

To encourage, motivate and to aid individuals and families in the metropolitan Detroit areas. We will provide housing connections, job connections, food and clothing that will strengthen the success of individuals and families.

We go to areas in metro Detroit to provide as much encouragement, listening ears and giving hearts. We welcome like-minded individuals that are willing to help, motivate & encourage people that don’t have the same walk of life as themselves.

Donations & connections of any kind are always accepted. We look forward to hearing from you & working with you to help better our communities.

“But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.”

Our Founder

Stephanie Ruckes grew up in church where their community efforts were always successful. Her family church, New Prosperity Missionary Baptist, always had events on the weekend that would assist the local neighborhood. But it wasn’t until she started my own dessert business that she would encounter her passion & purpose.

In June 2016, Stephanie and a friend was out selling desserts for her baking business called PK’S SWEETS. They had cheesecake slices & bottled water left ever over, and drove around & distributed those items to people on the streets, it was at that moment that they knew they needed to do more.

Stephanie expressed to her friends & family what she intended and wanted to do, and their question was when are you ready? From there, our journey began.

Stephanie is received her Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, and is looking to launch a program within Good Deeds Detroit to assist those in the community on navigating effectively with the ever-changing world of technology.

NEWS

Hello Detroit and surrounding areas,

We are currently no longer accepting clothing or furniture donations as we do not have the storage space.

We are currently in the works with partnering with like-minded organizations to continue helping our communities. We are gearing up for our Soul Food Fellowship, and our Hat, Socks and Gloves giveaway soon. Please continue to look out for the event dates.

Thank you always for your support throughout these years.

We are a metro Detroit nonprofit and we have partnered with Bombas, a large sock business. We donate socks to local organizations and facilities. We are listed for local organizations to find us to receive sock assistance.

Our shipments range from 5,000 pairs of socks to 7,500.

Here are a few of our sock donations for 2023-2025.

Testimonial

"Here at Community & Home Supports, Inc, we want to give a special thank you to Ms. Stephanie for donating 600 pairs of socks for our clients.

We are so grateful as an organization and this donation will be able to help so many of our participants this winter in staying warm. Ms. Stephanie is the founder of her own non-profit organization called Good Deeds Detroit.  At CHS Detroit we appreciate any and all partnerships to make sure our participants are provided with their essential needs. With giving Tuesday vastly approaching we want to encourage others to consider giving back to those in need and help us on our fight to ending homelessness."

        Our Programs

Our Soul Food & Fellowship program brings together hot home cooked meals from our volunteers. We supply toiletries, donated clothing and beverages to those individuals who are living on the street or for those who simply accepted our help to assist. We go to local areas downtown, on the service drives of freeways and major intersections.

Hats, Socks, & Gloves program supplies winter time necessities to community families & individuals needing assistance to combat the cold while in shelters or seeking shelter.

Summertime Cool Off is a wonderful event where ice cold beverages, popscicles, food and games provided. We also supply any donated clothing.

Our Car Wash Fundraiser is a positive way to raise awareness for our cause, sell food, and interact with the public. Food, desserts are also available for purchase in addition to the car wash.
